It is that time again, event season. Geofencing for event marketing has many pluses for attendees trying to drive booth foot traffic as well as those who can’t attend to still have a presence at the event marketing to an audience that is rich with mobile users who are a perfect fit for your product, service or brand.
Event Marketing using Geofencing to Drive Booth Traffic
Trade show and event marketing is huge in the U.S. hitting a total of over 12 Billion in 2016 study claimed. With that being said, looking for new way to stand out is a year end and year out focus for many. See below an event marketing case study using geofencing around the convention center and local hotels.
Client – International Electronics Company (B2B, B2C)
The Challenge – To promote the company’s presence with booth number and new products coming out via landing page. The event was held in Germany and since the client had chosen to work with Thumbvista to promote the booth, the international location was not a problem.
Solution – The event was over multiple days, so having ads running in the evening was desired to reach mobile users in their down town at area hotels. By geofencing the event location as well as the area hotels we were able to get in front of an international audience with a strong frequency to create awareness of the brand and booth location.
Results – The campaign was seen as a success with getting over 1200 visitors to their custom landing page for the product and booth along with a total .31% CTR.
The Take Away – Crafting the creative is extremely important for any geofencing campaign, but when event marketing for a trade show thinking outside the box is key to really grab eyes and push foot traffic. Thinking a different message for times of the event such as night before, Day 1, key note speaker info and the final day are some ideas that have seen success.
